Portuguese stylist analyzes the Emmy Awards: "A boring red carpet"

Portuguese stylist analyzes the Emmy Awards: "A boring red carpet"

A week after the Emmy Awards ceremony and just a few days before Portuguese public figures walk the runway at the Golden Globes gala, Fama ao Minuto spoke with a Portuguese designer to find out what works and what doesn't on the red carpet.

Mário de Carvalho, stylist, designer and fashion designer, analyzed the looks and made a list of the best dressed, those who completely failed in their choice of look, and also gave some tips about a red carpet that may be useful to the Portuguese stars who next Sunday, September 28, will parade on the red carpet at the Golden Globes.

The five best dressed at the Emmy Awards

Below is Mário de Carvalho's list of the five best-dressed red carpet looks at the Emmy Awards. Photographs of each look are available in the gallery.

  • "In unquestionable 1st place", the singer and actress Lisa ;
  • Jean Smart was "immaculate";
  • Mariska Hargitay proved that "elegance can be achieved with little";
  • Sydney Sweeney brought "an infallible formula" and the only thing missing was a hair tie;
  • Last on the list is Pedro Pascal , "a man with style".

The 5 worst dressed at the Emmy Awards

Now here's what not to wear to the red carpet, which is to say: the worst dressed list at the Emmy Awards.

  • Jenna Ortega was not pleased. "The top piece is stunning, but it seems like there wasn't enough budget to improve the rest."
  • Parker Posey "mixed the feathers from Cabaret, the jewel from Titanic and the lace from Heidi's apron and went. It didn't work";
  • In Katherine LaNasa 's look "absolutely nothing was good";
  • Ruth Negga "made a mistake, she wanted to go to Vilamoura and ended up at the Emmys";
  • Finally, Scarlett Johansson . "It's not that she's badly dressed, but she's so uninteresting," the designer noted.

Cate Blanchett's jumpsuit: "a risky choice"

Actress Cate Blanchett was one of the celebrities who attended the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles, and it was her first time attending the ceremony .

For the occasion, the actress ditched long dresses and opted for a jumpsuit. We wanted to know if, in Mário de Carvalho's opinion, this is a valid choice for a red carpet or if it leaves something to be desired.

"Cate Blanchet rarely fails. There's one thing you either have or don't have, that you can't learn: class," the designer and stylist began by saying.

"Even wearing a jumpsuit, a risky choice, she remained faithful and, even though it's not on my list of favorite looks, she looked very beautiful. Perhaps her hair could have been more polished, but she looked very good," she highlighted.

The general opinion: "It was a boring red carpet"

Finally, we asked Mário de Carvalho for his general opinion on the visuals at the Emmy Awards.

" We can see that geometric lines in monochromatic looks are here to stay. I understand why; it evens out everyone's silhouette and is safer from an aesthetic point of view, " he said as a tip.

Even with some looks standing out for their elegance, the designer didn't hesitate to state that what happened at the Emmys "was miles away from being a red carpet event that will go down in history." Mário de Carvalho went further and concluded by saying that it was indeed " a boring red carpet ."
